![]() Pretty sure that serves no actual purpose but it's a neat thing you can do. ![]() For example, your tag partner follows you wherever you go in case it's time to duel, but if you pet Pharaoh in a certain way he likes you and follows you everywhere for the day, even to class which kinda reminded me of how Pokemon would follow you in Yellow and the remakes of Gold and Silver. There are also various nice touches and small attention to detail that I honestly didn't except at first. Overall, the character interactions between themselves as well as the player are solid and fit the setting really well. You get to befriend a lot of characters and have them as your tag partners, which isn't without its problems (more in that later), but for the most part it functions well. Moreover, some of the npcs that were not in the anime have decks that directly compliment each other, which makes them surprisingly tough. There's a new focus on cooperation and precise timing depending on your partner's cards, which adds an extra layer of strategy to the game. Coming from games where I've always played 1v1 Tag Force's format of 2v2 was a really refreshing experience and you would expect so considering it's the main selling point of the entire game series. That single ost is unironically my absolute favourite part of the game and it's the single sound that pops up in my mind whenever I think about anything Tag Force related.Īnother strong advantage is the duel format. You would think the fact that every duel starts with it and loops it would make me hate it, but I honestly never got tired of it and was even disappointed when it got replaced by "Get Your Game On: Tournament" later on. It's like elevator music if the elevator was travelling at triple the speed. If anyone has played that game close your eyes, listen to these 2, imagine you're on the farm in those seasons and then tell me if I'm right or insane lol.įinally, "Get Your Game On" is without a doubt the game's crown jewel among it's original ost material. "Minigame" has a fun, light and energetic feel to it, while "Tag Team Sunday" and "Main Building" remind me a lot of summer and spring in Stardew Valley. As the game progresses it unfortunately gets replaced by "You're Winning: Tournament 1" which is good, but not as good and "You're Winning: Tournament 2" which is nothing special. "You're Winning" is Jaden's theme from the anime which is a great addition as it starts playing on the turn where you're about to win so it really gives you a feel of having fun when achieving victory. "Opening Theme", is great especially with the visuals of the video that show a lot of the cool monster summonings (the first link is the Japanese, the second the English version). ![]() I'm gonna keep the structure simple by just discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the game so let's start with the good stuff. ![]() Once I rewatched their duels I felt like I needed more so I checked a couple of places and it looked like Tag Force 1 was a pretty good way to experience a lot of GX season 1 in a game format and since I wanted to play one of the Tag Force games for some time, I got an emulator and started playing. Recently I got interested in Abidos the 3rd for some reason and decided to revisit the shadow riders as I consider them to be one of the weakest parts of GX. ![]() Apart from the occasional Tom and Jerry parody videos and God of War, the main thing we would play was one of the GX Tag Force games especially in classes where the teacher straight up didn't give a fuck. You may have noticed all these are on PC mainly because I didn't have a console growing up, however, I remember me and friend fucking around with his psp during classes back when we were like 11. Joey the passion and it's 1000 mods were a huge time-waster back in the day, followed by one called KaibaCorp where I'd constantly duel a friend of mine using hamachi to make a party, followed by good old Dueling Network and finally YGOPRO. So ever since I was a kid I've played a bunch of Yugioh videogames. ![]()
